Marc Salmon

Marc is a principal environmental scientist at Easterly Point Environmental, specialising in the assessment and management of contaminated land, environmental monitoring, impact assessment and environmental management.

He is a NSW EPA accredited site auditor (2001) and a Queensland DES approved contaminated land auditor (2014), and has been accepted as a federal assessor under the airport regulations (2007). Marc has audited over 100 sites, with landuses including defence sites, hospitals, service stations, fuel depots, paper mills, landfills, research facilities, drum recycling, dry cleaners, railway lands, road corridors, asphalt plants, manufacturing facilities, utilities depots, banana lands, cattle tick dip sites, cropping lands, broad-acre agricultural sites, and former sand mining sites and plants.

Marc commenced his professional career in plantation forestry, becoming involved in the environmental management of timber treatment plants, and subsequently contaminated land, including Martin Street, Armidale. He worked on secondment to the NSW EPA contaminated land group (two six-month secondments in 1992 and 1995), and subsequently in Australia, the USA and SE Asia in the assessment and management of contaminated land.

He has performed the role of project director, project manager and/or senior contaminated sites specialist for the assessment, remediation and management of residential, sensitive landuse, recreational, commercial and industrial sites, from small scale single-lot sites, to major development projects, including former gas-works, industrial facilities, service stations and tunnelling projects.

Marc has also worked extensively in environmental monitoring, including the assessment of soils, sediments, surfacewater, groundwater and air quality. His professional interests include amongst others, experiment design through the use of the data quality objectives (DQOs) planning process, for which he lectures at the UTS CSARM short course, the use of statistics in environmental assessment, and the assessment and management of enhanced natural occurring radioactive materials.

Marc completed his certificate for Lead Auditor - Integrated Management Systems in 2014, and has taught certificate level courses in environmental management systems (EMSs). He has developed EMSs and environmental management plans (EMPs) for site developments and remediation projects.

Hailey Spry

Senior Environmental Scientist
MEIANZ, CEnvP

Hailey is a Senior Environmental Scientist, specialising in the review and assessment of contaminated land investigations, including preliminary and detailed site assessments, remediation, validation investigations and human health risk assessments.

Hailey has worked in the contaminated land industry for almost 10 years, starting her career in Melbourne as a graduate. Since then, Hailey has worked on a range of projects associated with the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, environmental management and environmental auditing, providing her with extensive experience in third party reviews of contaminated land assessments (NSW and QLD), and management of environmental investigations. Hailey has been involved in the assessment and review of sites with landuses such as residential, rail land, service stations, papermill sites, dry cleaners, gasworks, council depots, sewage treatment plants, solid waste transfer stations, cattle tick dip sites and industrial facilities.

Hailey has worked as a field scientist, project manager and auditor assistant. Hailey’s primary role at Easterly Point Environmental is providing high-level audit support, having been working as an audit assistant since 2006. This, combined with her previous consulting experience, has provided her with an understanding of the regulatory and technical requirements for environmental site assessments, remediation and management, and site audits in both NSW and Queensland.

Hailey’s professional interests include the investigation and remediation of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), toxicology and human health risk assessments, with her on-going professional development focused in these areas. Hailey has completed a number of high-level risk assessment training courses and workshops, and has been accepted by the NSW EPA as part of Marc Salmon’s technical specialist team for human health risk assessments. Hailey is a member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (MEIANZ), Australasian College of Toxicology and Risk Assessment (ACTRA) and a certified environmental practitioner (CEnvP).

Mandy Champion

Senior Environmental Scientist

Mandy is a senior environmental scientist, a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP), and has worked in the contaminated land industry for over ten years. Mandy specialises in the review and assessment of contaminated land investigations, including preliminary and detailed site assessments, remediation and validation investigations, environmental management and auditing.

She has worked as a field scientist, project manager and auditor assistant. Mandy’s primary role at Easterly Point is providing audit support to Marc Salmon, who is an NSW EPA accredited site auditor and a Qld DES approved contaminated land auditor. This has provided her with a thorough understanding of the regulatory and technical requirements for environmental site assessments, remediation, validation, and the management of contaminated sites in the ACT, NSW and Queensland.

Mandy has experience working on a wide range of projects, including petroleum storage and distribution facilities, industrial and commercial facilities, sewage treatments plants, roads, service stations and residential sites. Her professional interests include remediation of groundwater contamination and environmental management systems.

Mandy is a member of the:
- Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (MEIANZ); and
- Australasian Land & Groundwater Association.

Anna Carbonell

Anna is the financial and administrative coordinator for Easterly Point.
